Register Your Drone with SCAA
In Seychelles, drone users are urged to respect the guidelines and register their aircraft with Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA).
Due to the increasing number of drone users in Seychelles, the country’s SCAA started to issue regulations in March last year. These regulations are designed to help prevent unauthorized use of the aircraft.
To comply with the regulations, drone owners are required to submit their aircraft for processing through the SCAA’s database. Once the procedure has been completed, a confirmation will be issued by the agency.
Since the registration of drones began on March 2, 2021, over 2,558 have been registered. As of 2022, almost a hundred flight authorizations have been issued by the SCAA.
Foreign nationals who wish to fly drones in Seychelles must first obtain approval from the country’s Department of Information and Communication (DICT). They can send an email to Communications@ict.gov.sc
The use of drones can cause various problems, especially when flying them within the range of airports and certain flight paths. To address this issue, the agency has launched a campaign to inform drone users about the proper operation of their aircraft and the safety guidelines they should follow.
The agency also noted that the use of drones should not threaten the safety of helicopters and the general public. In addition, the agency has also issued a safety guideline that explains how to operate drones safely within Seychelles.

The agency’s guidelines also stated that drones should not be flown near airports and helipads. You will need to have specific permission from the SCAA.
In addition, drone users are required to obtain permission from the SCAA before flying over certain areas. Such as congested areas or public events. They are also prohibited from taking photos or filming in private areas, which is considered to be a breach of privacy.
