About the Route

The trail spans approximately one kilometer, ascending to an altitude of 319 meters. It is relatively easy, featuring a gradual incline, although there are intermittent steep sections that may pose a challenge for children.

Your journey will start at a charming cafeteria, where you can savor a refreshing juice before embarking on the ascent. The initial part of the path involves a gentle climb, offering views of Praslin and Round Island. After a brief five-minute walk, you’ll reach the primary intersection, positioning you on Nid Daigle’s circular trail.

The trail encompasses a blend of canopies adorned with palm trees and open areas with eroded red soils. Depending on the season, you might encounter bracken ferns, indicating previous disturbances and soil erosion. Along the way, stacked rocks with occasional white markings serve as guides. It’s essential to stay on the main path, as there are other trails leading elsewhere, such as Roch Baie, for instance.

How to get there?

Opting for a taxi directly to Belle Vue is a more convenient choice, bypassing the challenging steep road leading to the trail’s starting point. However, if you decide to take on the challenge, commence your journey from La Passe, following the Anse Reunion road, which guides you directly to the Belle Vue intersection approximately 150 meters from Chateau St. Cloud Guesthouse. From there, continue along the steep paved road leading to a small cafeteria.

Upon reaching the highest peak of La Digue, you’ll be treated to a breathtaking view encompassing La Passe, as well as Mahé, Praslin, Curieuse, Félicité, Grande Soeur, Petite Soeur, and even Frégate. Exercise caution while exploring the inselberg due to the rocks’ slippery nature. On your return, ensure you complete the circular trail to avoid missing out on any scenic delights.
