What Is Round Table?

Round Table is an international association of young men between the ages of 18 to 40, although some members continue beyond that age range.

With approximately 100,000 members in about 70 countries worldwide, Round Table aims to promote high ethical standards, social interaction, and fellowship among young professional men while directing attention to the need for community service.

The association welcomes members from all professions and occupations, creating a diverse and inclusive community that fosters personal growth, professional development, and lasting friendships. Round Table is not exclusive to any particular religion, race, or political affiliation, and members come from all walks of life.

The History of Round Table

The association’s emblem or rondel is an adaption of the one that hangs in the Great Hall of Winchester Castle, which is claimed to be the Round Table of the mythical court of King Arthur.

However, the design has no direct connection to the legend of King Arthur, and the table was actually a representation made in the 13th century.

How Did It Get It’s Name

The Round Table’s name and maxim derive from a speech made by the then Prince of Wales at the British Industries Fair in 1927, where he stated that “the young business and professional men of this country must get together ROUND the TABLE, ADOPT methods that have proved so sound in the past, ADAPT them to the changing needs of the times and whenever possible, IMPROVE them.”

These principles of ADOPT, ADAPT, IMPROVE are a key facet of the organisation and remain at the heart of the modern movement today. Members are encouraged to adopt the best practices and strategies from the past, adapt them to the changing needs of the times, and continuously strive to improve upon them. This approach enables the association to stay relevant, responsive, and effective in addressing the needs of the community.

Round Table members are committed to helping those in need, whether their situation is brought about by man or nature.

The association’s focus on community service is a fundamental aspect of its values, and members are encouraged to contribute their time, skills, and resources to help those in need.

Through various community service projects, the members make a positive impact on their communities, creating a legacy of service that is recognised and appreciated by all.
