Saturday Sports Camp for kids

Parents can now instill an active lifestyle in their children with the introduction of a Saturday Sports Camp for kids aged 7 and above. In an era where many children gravitate towards screens, this initiative aims to combat the lack of physical activity by engaging youngsters in outdoor pursuits.

The camp, taking place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every Saturday, offers a variety of activities such as exercise, hikes, swimming, games, and more. Priced at R2,500 per month for full participation or R750 for a single session, the multi-disciplinary camp focuses on fostering a love for sports, the outdoors, adventure, and healthy living. Organizer Maryna Morin-Adeline emphasizes the diverse range of activities, including sports, fitness, first aid training, nutrition education, and cultural outings, all designed to inspire curiosity and an active lifestyle in children.

The aim is to get children more involved with the outdoors that the Saturday Sports Camp, with numerous activities planned throughout the day, including exercise, hikes, swimming, games, and more.

The camp is actually being organized by the Empower Learning Centre, which is a skills development platform specializing in corporate training on Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, personal productivity tools, time management, leadership, career development, and work ethics. This multi-sports program has been set up by Coach Zaher Hamdan, who holds a Master’s Degree in Sports Health and Nutrition from France, along with diplomas for high-level sports training and certificates in various sports such as swimming, gymnastics, weightlifting, powerlifting, athletics, sports for all, boxing, and others. “We believe that regular exercise and physical activity not only promote strong muscles, bones, respiratory, cardiovascular, and overall health but also improve mental health and psychological well-being,” said Morin-Adeline.

While the camps make provisions for a certified sports instructor, a certified lifeguard, transportation, equipment, a first aid kit, and supplementary water, parents must provide the lunch and snacks for their children.

When? Every Saturday from 02th March 2024 to August 31th 2024.

Class size? They can accommodate up to 24 children every Saturday.

Fees – Monthly membership fee: SCR 2,500/per child; or One session: SCR 750/per child

Morning Activities

-1-2 hr hike: Anse Majore, Copolia, Mare Aux Cochons, and others; or
-Visit to a museum or an art gallery; or
-Educational activities and board games; or
-Athletics at Stad Popiler

Afternoon Activities

-Beach sports games and swimming; or
-Sports activities at Roche Caiman Sports Complex;
-First Aid training
-Healthy nutrition training
