Parking in Seychelles -What You Need to Know
Parking in Seychelles, particularly in the capital city of Victoria, is very limited. Most available parking is usually occupied by taxi drivers or employees working in the vicinity, leaving minimal space for daily visitors.

Parking Tickets & Pricing
In recent years, most designated parking areas have introduced a ticketing system. When driving to purchase a ticket, it’s advisable to have someone stay in the car or drive around — parking without a ticket, even temporarily, may result in a hefty fine.

Where to Purchase Parking Tickets
We’ll do our best to keep you informed about where parking tickets are available. For now, you can purchase them at the following locations in Victoria:
-
Antigone Bookstore – Located in the mall near the Victoria Clock Tower, close to the ABSA Bank.
-
Victoria Post Office – Tickets are meant to be available here, though stock may vary.
⚠️ Note: Availability can change, and most outlets operate during standard business hours — so plan to get your ticket early in the day.
Ticket pricing generally ranges from SCR 5 to SCR 25:
-
SCR 15: Valid for half a day
-
SCR 25: Valid for a full day
The valid areas and time slots for each ticket type are listed on the back of the ticket.

How to Use the Parking Ticket
-
Cross off the month, day, date, and time you parked.
-Time is marked by crossing the hour (outer circle) and minutes (inner circle). Example: For 8:00 AM, cross off “8” on the outer circle and “0” on the inner circle.
-
Place the ticket face-up on your dashboard, clearly visible through the windscreen, for inspection by traffic or police officers.
Note: Disabled parking bays are available but require a specific type of ticket.

Availability & Alternatives
Unfortunately, having a ticket does not guarantee a parking space. You may need to drive around to find a suitable spot. If you’re lucky enough to find one, consider enjoying a scenic walk to your nearby destinations — it’s often the best way to explore.
Larger shopping malls generally have better parking availability:
-
STC Hypermarket: Free parking
-
Eden Island Plaza & City Mall: Paid parking, with fees based on time spent. Payment is usually made to a guard at the entrance or exit.
Public Transport Option
As an alternative to driving, consider using the public bus service, which reaches all parts of the island. Note:
-
Cash is no longer accepted.
-
You must use a bus card, available and rechargeable at many local shops (most close by 4 PM). Read More about transport around the Islands here
Safety & Regulations
-
Always lock your vehicle and store valuables out of sight, preferably in the boot.
-
Be cautious of unofficial individuals who may approach you offering parking assistance or requesting payment — this is not permitted.
-
Only park in marked, legal bays and ensure you have a valid ticket displayed.
Outside Victoria
Away from the city centre — near beaches, hiking trails, or shops/restaurants by the general roadside — parking tickets are typically not required, and people park wherever space is available.
