From 14–16 August, La Digue comes alive for its annual Assumption Feast, bringing together faith, culture, music, traditional games, food, family activities and plenty of island spirit.

But here’s our suggestion… don’t just go for a day. Make a weekend of it. If you’re heading over for the feast of the Assumption, why not turn the trip into a proper island escape? Feast of the Assumption 2026 – La Digue

14–16 August 2026 | La Digue

Now that your weekend is sorted, here’s what’s happening at the feast.

This year’s Assumption Feast takes place under the theme “Celebrating the Spirit of La Digue: Faith, Culture, Unity”, bringing together religious celebrations, traditional culture, family activities, sport, food, live entertainment and community spirit.

Friday, 14 August

The public programme kicks off at 9am at La Passe Jetty under the theme “Lanbyans lo zil”.

3pm–6pm | La Digue Sports Complex
Get involved with sporting competitions including a veterans’ football match between La Digue and Praslin, volleyball and cross-country races.

4pm | L’Union Estate
The children’s corner opens with games and interactive activities.

7pm onwards | L’Union Estate
The evening programme gets underway with a Leko Tanbour procession, followed by gospel performances, the official launch and a packed line-up of local entertainment including Leko Tanbour, Leko Bwa Ver, Mazezarin, Sonny Morgan, Thomas Knowles, Sheriff Band and DJ Baya.

Late-night entertainment will also continue at selected venues around La Passe.

Saturday, 15 August

9am–1pm | La Passe Jetty
Live music welcomes passengers arriving on the island.

9.30am | Solemn Mass
The religious heart of the celebration takes place with the Mass for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, followed by a procession and the blessing and official opening of the new Virgin Mary grotto beside the church.

1pm–6pm | L’Union Estate
Think you’ve got what it takes? Let the games begin!

Family games and traditional challenges will include beach volleyball, dominoes, pillow fighting, arm wrestling, tyre lifting and rolling, bicycle-rim races, bottle-filling, coconut husking, stroller and egg-and-spoon races, tug of war and slow-bicycle competitions.

There will also be greasy-pole challenges and some fun guessing games, including guessing the weight of a piglet or cake and the number of sweets in a container.

6pm onwards | Main Stage
More live entertainment takes over with performances from local artists including Mazezarin, Bill Le Fransey, Ziggy, Abdel, Jasmine, Kieran, Deyano and Danzel.

8pm | Miss La Digue 

10pm | Fireworks 

And the celebrations continue with Reloaded Band from 10.30pm–1am, alongside additional late-night entertainment around La Passe.

Sunday, 16 August

8.30am | Mass

10am | Cycling Races
Individual and four-rider relay cycling races will take place around L’Union Estate and the island road circuit.

1pm onwards | Sports & Family Games
Expect more dominoes, arm wrestling, sack races, three-legged races, obstacle races, musical chairs, pillow fighting, sega, greasy-pole challenges and beach volleyball finals.

There will also be an Iron Man and Iron Woman challenge, plus a team relay combining cycling, swimming and running.

1pm onwards | Entertainment
The closing-day programme features the School Selection Band, SNYC youth performances, school-band performances and the final prize-giving ceremony at 6pm.

7pm | Moutya
Leko Bwa Ver brings the traditional sounds of moutya to the celebrations.

8pm–10pm | Closing Programme
DJ entertainment leads into the official closing and a “Rendez-vous 2027” farewell.

More Than a Feast

Alongside the official programme, visitors can expect food vendors, local artisans, crafts and small businesses showcasing and selling their products throughout the celebrations.

With faith, culture, traditional games, music, food and fireworks all on the programme, the Assumption Feast is the perfect opportunity to spend a little more time on La Digue and rediscover one of Seychelles’ most loved islands.
