Ethiopian Airlines Doubles Up on Seychelles Flights This December

Getting to the Seychelles is about to become even easier.

From 1 December, Ethiopian Airlines will introduce a second daily non-stop flight between Addis Ababa and Mahé, giving travellers more flexibility and making it even more convenient to reach our island paradise.

The new service is great news not only for visitors heading to the Seychelles but also for locals travelling abroad. With Addis Ababa serving as one of Africa’s busiest aviation hubs, the additional flight creates smoother connections to destinations across Africa, Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East, while helping reduce layover times.

The new afternoon service will arrive at Seychelles International Airport at 4:20 p.m. before departing for Addis Ababa at 5:50 p.m. Operated by a Boeing 737, the aircraft offers 16 Business Class and 138 Economy Class seats, adding more than 1,000 extra seats every week.

Ethiopian Airlines already operates a daily direct service between Addis Ababa and Mahé, departing Addis Ababa at 9:30 a.m. and arriving in Seychelles at 2:20 p.m. after a flight of around three hours and 50 minutes. The return flight currently leaves Seychelles at 5:15 p.m.

For travellers, the extra flight means more choice when planning a trip and easier connections through Addis Ababa’s extensive global network. Whether you’re flying to Europe for a holiday, heading to Asia for business, or welcoming friends and family to Seychelles, the expanded schedule offers added convenience.

Passengers can continue to enjoy Ethiopian Airlines’ onboard experience, including complimentary meals, in-flight entertainment, and the airline’s ShebaMiles frequent flyer programme.

The announcement has been warmly welcomed by Seychelles’ tourism industry, with the additional capacity expected to support visitor growth and improve accessibility to the destination.

Tourism Seychelles CEO Vesna Rakic described Ethiopian Airlines as an important partner in the country’s tourism strategy, noting that the addition of more than 1,000 extra seats per week will help diversify Seychelles’ visitor markets while giving travellers greater flexibility—particularly during the busy festive season.

As tourism remains the country’s leading economic sector, the new service marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between Ethiopian Airlines and Seychelles, strengthening connections between the islands and the rest of the world.
