Brazil Crowned 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Champions in Seychelles

Brazil have claimed their seventh FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup title, defeating Belarus 4-3 in a thrilling final held at the Paradise Arena in Seychelles on Sunday.

The Brazilians, firm favourites from the start of the tournament, got off to a flying start with Lucao opening the scoring just two minutes into the final. Belarus, determined not to be overrun, equalised late in the first period through Yauheni Novikau.

Just moments into the second period, Brazilian captain Rodrigo restored the lead before Catarino extended it to 3-1 seconds later. Belarus fought back in the third period with two goals from Ihar Bryshtsel, levelling the score at 3-3.

As the match edged towards penalties, it was Rodrigo who emerged as the hero for Brazil, scoring the decisive goal with a low shot that bounced off the sand and past the Belarusian goalkeeper.

Rodrigo, who was also awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player, praised his team’s unity:

“It’s very easy to play with these guys. Their commitment and our defensive strength made the difference.”

Mauricinho added:

“Credit goes to the whole team for their commitment, dedication, and humility in respecting all their opponents. This title is for all the Brazilian people.”

Portugal Claim Third Place After Victory Over Senegal

Before the final, Portugal secured third place with a dramatic 3-2 win over Senegal in a tightly contested playoff.

Senegal struck first through Ninou Diatta just three minutes in. The score remained 1-0 until the third period, when Portugal equalised thanks to an own goal by Seydina Gadiaga. Senegal responded quickly with a goal from Sidy Fall, but Portugal levelled again through Coimbra. A late penalty by Andre Lourenço sealed the win for the Portuguese.

The match was not without controversy, with Senegal’s coach voicing frustration over refereeing decisions.

Portugal, twice world champions, have now finished third in the competition four times. Senegal, meanwhile, were unable to improve on their previous best of fourth place.
