Festival Kreol 2026 – Your Guide to a Month of Creole Culture in Seychelles

October is here, which means one thing – Festival Kreol is back!

This year marks the 41st edition of Festival Kreol, celebrating the language, music, dance, food, art, traditions and people that make Seychelles proudly Creole. And 2026 is an especially significant year, as the celebrations also coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Seychelles’ Independence.

The theme is “Our Moments” and there are going to be plenty of them throughout October.

From Regatta at Beau Vallon and Moutya under the stars to Creole markets, children’s events, art exhibitions, live music, traditional celebrations and the return of the big Tonbola and Bal Bobes finale, there’s something happening throughout the month.

So whether you live here or you’re visiting Seychelles in October, save this page.  Here’s your guide to Festival Kreol 2026.

Friday 2 – Sunday 4 October | Regatta 2026📍 Beau Vallon | From 10am

We’re starting big! Regatta 2026 takes over Beau Vallon for three days of entertainment, sport, food, music and community spirit.

One of Seychelles’ best-loved events, it’s a weekend to head down to Beau Vallon, meet friends, grab something to eat and enjoy the atmosphere.

Saturday 3 October | Seyaura Spectacle📍 Music Stadium | 9pm

The Sri Lankan Association in Seychelles presents a cultural stage production bringing together music, dance, international artists and Seychellois performers in a celebration of cultural exchange.

Thursday 8 October | National Costume Workshop

The National Costume Project continues with an interactive workshop bringing participating designers together to develop their ideas for a distinctive Seychelles National Costume, drawing inspiration from the country’s history, heritage, environment, national symbols and identity.

Friday 9 October | Nou Pep, Nou Lidantite, Nou Desten Art Exhibition📍 National Arts Gallery | Opening 5pm

Art meets history as the exhibition celebrates 50 years of Seychelles’ Independence and Festival Kreol, exploring the country’s identity, memories, traditions, challenges and hopes through the eyes of artists.

The exhibition will then be open to the public from 10–31 October, 9am–4pm.

Saturday 10 October | A Big Day of Creole Culture

There’s plenty happening on Saturday, so you may need to choose or fit in a little bit of everything!

Bazar Spesyal – Creole Market📍 Domaine de Val des Prés | 10am–6pm

Head to Au Cap for a day of local crafts, Creole food, cultural products and live music. The Creole Market gives local artisans, producers and small businesses a chance to showcase their products while visitors get to shop, eat and experience a little more of Seychelles’ culture.

Final Moman Kreativite – Primary School📍 ICCS Auditorium | 2pm

Young Seychellois showcase their imagination and artistic talents in this creative competition.

Regional Moutya📍 Victoria | 4pm–midnight

Experience one of Seychelles’ most important cultural traditions as Moutya takes centre stage. This regional event brings communities together to perform, practise and pass the tradition on to future generations.

Sunday 11 October | Final Moman Kreativite📍 ICCS Auditorium | 2pm

The creativity continues with students showcasing their talents, imagination and cultural expression.

Monday 12 October | Quiz “Bataye”📍 ICCS Auditorium, Room 1 | 10am

A friendly knowledge competition bringing together sections of the Department of Culture for a little teamwork – and presumably a little healthy competition too!

Thursday 15 October | Zenn Artis Lemonn Kreolofonn📍 Carrefour des Arts | 10am

One for the next generation of creatives. Young artists from schools come together for a platform encouraging artistic exchange, collaboration and recognition of emerging visual talent.

Friday 16 October | Interschool Quiz & Public Speaking Competition📍 National Theatre, Mont Fleuri | 11am–1:30pm

Students put their knowledge and language skills to the test with a Kreol Seselwa public speaking and quiz competition, celebrating the language and encouraging the next generation to keep using it with pride.

Saturday 17 October | One to Put in the Diary!

Saturday 17 is packed with Festival Kreol activities.

Batenm Poupet📍 Domaine de Val des Prés | 10am

A traditional cultural activity keeping an important part of Seychelles’ heritage alive.

Bazar Spesyal – Creole Market📍 Domaine de Val des Prés | 10am–6pm

Another chance to browse locally made crafts, discover Creole products, enjoy local food and listen to live music.

Karnaval Zanfan📍 Victoria | 12pm–6:30pm

This should be a colourful one! The Children’s Parade brings together schools and youth clubs from across Seychelles for a celebration of creativity and culture.

The parade culminates at the Stadium car park, where the afternoon continues with performances and activities showcasing young talent.

Regional Moutya📍 Anse Royale | 4pm–midnight

Moutya heads south-east for another evening celebrating this important part of Seychelles’ cultural identity.

Selebre Nou Kreolite📍 ICCS Auditorium | 7pm

A dance and musical production celebrating Creole identity through choreography, music and performance, featuring young local performers aged between four and 22.

Monday 19–31 October | Dezennen Kreol dan Takeaways

🍛 Participating Victoria takeaways + online voting

Here’s one for the foodies!

Participating takeaway outlets in Victoria will be putting Creole cuisine in the spotlight. Buy lunch from participating outlets, try the dishes and then vote for your favourite through the Festival Kreol Facebook page.

The winner will be announced towards the end of October.

Tuesday 20 October | 50 Years of Kreolite📍 ICCS Auditorium, Room 2 | 10am

A one-day Research & Reflection Seminar organised by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the University of Seychelles.

Researchers, academics, students and cultural practitioners will explore 50 years of Kreolite, looking at the evolution of Seychelles’ national identity, traditions and heritage.

Friday 23 October | Festival Kreol Gets into Full Swing

Selebo📍 Stadium Car Park | 11am

A popular public gathering bringing people together through cultural activities, entertainment and community participation.

Live Outdoor Performance📍 National History Museum | 3pm–7pm

Local musicians and performers bring live entertainment into Victoria, adding to the Festival Kreol atmosphere.

Official Festival Kreol Ceremony📍 Music Stadium | 6pm

The official celebration of the 41st Festival Kreol brings together artists, cultural practitioners, dignitaries and the public in a celebration of Seychelles’ Creole identity and heritage.

Saturday 24 October | Music, Creativity & Moutya

Live Outdoor Performances📍 Market Street, STC, Fresh Cut & Cold Storage | 11am–1pm

Look out for local musicians and performers bringing Festival Kreol right into the heart of Victoria.

Moman Kreativite📍 ICCS Auditorium | 2pm

Another opportunity for Seychelles’ young talent to shine through art, imagination and creativity.

Regional Moutya📍 La Digue | 4pm–midnight

Festival Kreol heads to La Digue for an evening dedicated to Moutya and the cultural contribution of Seychelles’ islands.

Sunday 25 October | Dimans Kreol!

Sunday is all about enjoying Creole culture in a more relaxed setting.

Dimans Kreol Borlanmer📍 Beau Vallon – Regatta Site / Grand Anse Mahé | 10am

A Creole Sunday by the sea, with entertainment and cultural activities bringing people together in a relaxed, community atmosphere.

Traditional Wedding – Tifin📍 Seafront Restaurant | 11am

Step back into Seychelles tradition with a presentation showcasing the customs, music and celebrations surrounding a traditional Seychellois wedding.

There’s an extra-special touch for 2026: the event will honour a Seychellois couple celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary – 50 years of marriage, tying into Seychelles’ own 50th anniversary celebrations.

Young talent once again takes centre stage with creativity, cultural expression and artistic development.

Monday 26 October | Live Music in Victoria📍 National History Museum | 12pm–1:30pm

If you’re in town around lunchtime, look out for live performances from local musicians and artists.

Tuesday 27 October | Live Outdoor Performance📍 Kodevar, Victoria | 12pm–1:30pm

Another lunchtime dose of Festival Kreol, bringing Seychellois performers into Victoria.

Wednesday 28 October | Culture Across the Generations

Latelje 3yenm Az avek Zenn📍 ICCS Auditorium, Room 1 | 11am

Older and younger generations come together to share experiences, knowledge and wisdom, helping traditions and values continue from one generation to another.

Creole Mass📍 Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception | 12pm

A special service celebrating Seychelles’ Creole identity, cultural heritage, faith and community.

Entertainment, Giveaways & Live Performances📍 Airport / Ports | 12pm–1:30pm

Even people arriving in Seychelles get to join the Festival Kreol celebrations, with performances and giveaways creating a Creole welcome at some of the country’s main entry points.

Thursday 29 October | Tonbola Begins!

Tonbola – Creole Fair: Day 1📍 Freedom Square, Victoria | 11am–10pm

Now we’re heading into the big Festival Kreol finale!

Tonbola takes over Freedom Square for three days, bringing together Creole food, traditional games, cultural activities, local businesses, live entertainment and plenty of community spirit.

Enjoy more local music and performance as Victoria comes alive for Festival Kreol.

Friday 30 October | Tonbola, Moutya & a Big Night of Music

Tonbola – Day 2📍 Freedom Square | 11am–11pm

The Creole Fair continues all day and into the evening.

Regional Moutya📍 Grand Anse Mahé | 4pm–midnight

The Regional Moutya celebrations continue in the west of Mahé.

Live Outdoor Performances📍 National History Museum | 6pm–7:30pm

More live local entertainment in Victoria.

Spektak 5 Kouler📍 Mini Stadium, Victoria | 9pm–3am

This sounds like one of the big music nights of Festival Kreol 2026.

Spektak 5 Kouler celebrates five established Seychellois artists who have each spent more than 25 years in the local music industry, paying tribute to their careers and contribution to Seychelles’ musical heritage.

Saturday 31 October | The Grand Finale!

Clear the diary – Festival Kreol is going out with a bang.

Bazar Domaine📍 Domaine de Val des Prés | 10am–6pm

Spend the day browsing Creole crafts, food and local products while enjoying the atmosphere at Domaine de Val des Prés.

Tonbola – Day 3📍 Freedom Square | 11am–midnight

The final day of Tonbola brings another full day of food, traditional games, local businesses, cultural activities and live entertainment.

A Tribute to Our Musical Heritage

📍 ICCS Auditorium | 7pm

A special musical tribute remembers 12 Seychellois artists who have passed away, celebrating their music, lives and contribution to the development of Seychelles’ musical heritage.

Danm O Siro, Kavalyé O Petrol📍 Ex Fishtail | 8pm–6am

Get ready to dance until sunrise with an all-night celebration of Creole music and dance.

Bal Bobes – Creole Ball📍 Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay | 9pm–6am📍 Seafront Restaurant | 9pm–6am

And finally – Bal Bobes!

The traditional Creole Ball brings the month-long celebrations to a close with a huge night of Creole music, dancing and true Seychellois spirit, carrying Festival Kreol right through until 6am on 1 November.

Festival Kreol isn’t just one weekend or one big event. Throughout October, it gives us the chance to eat, dance, listen, learn, celebrate and rediscover the traditions that make Seychelles what it is.
