Seychelles Nature Trail Returns on 16 May 2026 with 3rd Edition on Mahé

Following the resounding success of its most recent trail in September, Tourism Seychelles has officially announced the return of the Seychelles Nature Trail (SNT) for a third edition, scheduled to take place on 16 May 2026 on the island of Mahé.

Since its launch, the Seychelles Nature Trail has quickly earned a reputation as one of the most exciting additions to Seychelles’ sports and experiential tourism calendar, attracting trail runners from across the globe while showcasing the islands’ extraordinary natural beauty. The 2026 edition promises to continue this momentum, offering participants a unique opportunity to experience Seychelles through one of its most demanding and scenic endurance events.

A 22 KM challenge across Mahé

As in previous editions, runners will take on a 22-kilometre trail challenge featuring an impressive 1,210 metres of elevation gain. The route is designed to test both physical endurance and mental resilience, while rewarding participants with spectacular views across some of Mahé’s most iconic landscapes. Starting in Port Glaud, runners will journey through Cap Ternay, Anse Major, Mare aux Cochons, Cassedent, and Tomassin, before finishing at Grand Anse. The course blends coastal paths, dense forest trails, and mountainous terrain, making it both technically engaging and accessible to runners of varying experience levels.

Beyond the race itself, the Seychelles Nature Trail continues to play a vital role in promoting sports tourism and celebrating the country’s rich biodiversity. By running through protected natural areas, participants gain an immersive appreciation of Seychelles’ unique ecosystems, granitic landscapes, and pristine national parks.

What Seychelles Nature Trail means to the Islands

Speaking on the event, Ms Bernadette Honoré, Senior Marketing Executive for the Réunion and Indian Ocean Market at Tourism Seychelles, highlighted the importance of the Seychelles Nature Trail in positioning the country as a leading destination for nature-based sporting events.

“The Seychelles Nature Trail is a powerful showcase of our islands’ granitic attributes and a key driver in positioning Seychelles as a premier nature and sport tourism destination,” she said. “This edition once again features one of our most diverse routes, combining athletic intensity with picture-perfect scenery.”

Ms Honoré also noted the growing international appeal of the event, with nearly one-third of participants in the latest edition travelling from Asia, Africa, and Europe. Positive feedback from international partners has further strengthened the trail’s standing on the global trail-running circuit.

In response to this increasing demand, registrations have opened early, allowing runners worldwide ample time to plan their travel and secure their place.
