Seychellois Freediver Smashes Records in Egypt
Seychelles’ own Sophie — founder of Freediving Seychelles — has made history at an international freediving competition in Egypt, setting not one, but three national records for Seychelles!
After a month of intense training in Dahab, a global freediving hotspot, Sophie competed in the AIDA Freediving World Event held in Sharm El Sheikh from 21st to 23rd July 2025. Her performance was nothing short of spectacular:
-
Day 1: 54m in Free Immersion (FIM) – National Record
-
Day 2: 59m in Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB) – National Record
-
Day 3: 63m in Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWTB) – National Record & Personal Best
These incredible dives officially place Sophie as Seychelles’ top freediver, marking a huge milestone not just for her personally, but for the island nation’s growing freediving community.
Sophie’s dedication, discipline, and passion for the sport continue to inspire — and we’re proud to follow her journey as she takes Seychelles to new depths on the world stage.
